Called to be Courageous

Courage.
It has a different meaning for everyone, depending on who you ask.
The other day, I had an interviewer ask me what courage means to me.
This was my response:
"Courage to me means doing what it's asked of you without the fear of man, or the fear of the consequences. You just do it."
In Matthew 10:28, Jesus tells us to "not be afraid of those who can kill the body, but cannot kill the soul."
This verse is speaking of courage. Of bold faith.
So many times in life, we are too afraid to speak up about something, even when we know that God has called us to speak out and speak up for him. We would rather keep our mouths shut and be quiet because we do not want to deal with or face the consequences.
We want to stay in our comfort zone. where we feel safe and protected.
But that is not courage, but rather, cowardice.
Many times in scripture we are told to be 'strong and courageous'.
But where does our courage come from?
From the Lord.
In the book of Ezra, we read a bit about taking courage from God.

Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines courage as "mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty."
Courage means to stand.
And to withstand.
To preserve, no matter what you are facing.
God equips with this courage, and enables to possess it in our daily lives with the things that we may face in this life.
We are called to be courageous.
We are called to stand up.
We are called to be fearless.
We are called to speak up.
No matter what, no matter where.
We must remember that God is with us wherever we go, so He is always with us and ready to supply us with the courage and the strength that we need to endure and withstand the wiles of the devil and this world.
