Matthew 10:27-28

God Leads us Along

Feb 04, 2025 by Addison Crissone
I don't know you, but January was a busy month. I feel like since 2025 rolled in, it brought all sorts of hard work and responsibilities with it and I have been running around ever since.
But as I was looking back over the past month and giving God all my worries and anxieties through prayer, he reminded me of the hymn that we had sung in church just the other day.
God Leads us Along.
"Some through the waters,
Some through the flood,
Some through the fire,
but all through the Blood.
Some through great sorrow,
but God gives a song.
In the night season,
 an all the day long."

He leads us through the waters and the flood- through the devastating wreckage left behind by Hurricane Helene last fall that destroyed a good portion of Western North Carolina that I call home. He Leads us through the fire- through the fires that have begun locally in the past few days, and through the large and fatal fires that have ravaged the state of California.
Noah faced a flood.
Daniel's three friends- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego- were forced into a firey Furnace.
In both situations, God prevailed. He rescued them.
Through everything we face and everything we may go through, whether it be a natural disaster or the stress of daily life and the struggles of the Christian walk, God leads us- His Children- along.
One thing that I love about this hymn, is that in my church hymnal, it is conveniently placed on the 365th page.
Meaning, God leads us along 365 days a year.
He has led us to where we are now, he is leading us today, and he will lead us into the future tomorrow. There is nowhere we can be that God has not already been.
Friend, wherever you stand today, God has led you there. Proverbs 20:24 says that "a man's steps come from the Lord." Wherever you are stepping today, God is giving you and guiding you along those steps. He is providing a way even if you cannot see it. And He does it 365 days a year, every year.
