Matthew 10:27-28

Our Mediator

Oct 15, 2024 by Addison Crissone
God is not a moral like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial. I only there were a mediator between us,
someone who could bring us together. The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live
in terror of his punishment. Then I could speak to him without fear,
but I cannot do that in my own strength.

Job 9:32-35 (NLT)
In Job's day, there wasn't much hope of that mediator. and that mediator wouldn't take the form of flesh until Jesus Christ walked that earth many years later.
A mediator is a go-between, someone who can stand between two parties who are at odds with each other and bring them together.
"There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and Humanity- the man Jesus Christ." (1 Tim. 2:5).
Like Job, we long for union with our Maker.
But we as mere sin-sick humans cannot stand before the Father in our own strength; nor can we speak before Him to plead our case.
This is where Jesus enters the scene, and bringing with Him a hope of reconciliation and salvation.
Jesus is our mediator- the one who speaks on our behalf to the Father in Heaven.
It is only through Jesus and His blood that we can ever stand guiltless before God our creator because Jesus took our place on the cross.

"You stand before God as if you were Christ because Christ stood before God as if he were you." - Charles Spurgeon.
